HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY
On a warm summer's day in the middle of August we celebrated the first birthday of the Children's Lymphoedema website "lymph4kidz" over at Barn Farm, and what a great day it was!
Fifteen children attended with parents and their families and they were treated to a real fire engine with real live firemen IN UNIFORM which the children enjoyed, and the staff enjoyed even more!
There was face painting, provided by Jo Trodden, a volunteer in the In-patient Unit. There was no end to her artistic talents, hours were spent painting lions, tigers and dainty butterflies, oh and the odd snake tattoo.!
We had pass the parcel, bouncy castle (which was for children only – huh, try telling that to the lymphoedema nurses Sue Hansard and Sue Desborough) hook-a-duck in the paddling pool – nobody got totally drenched, just a little damp but the candy prize was well worth a little water.
Jeff's toys – the hoopla and golf games – were a roaring success, as was the 'jenga' if you could prise the firemen away for any length of time – they were fantastic and entered into the spirit of the occasion.
We enjoyed a lovely buffet courtesy of our local Medi rep, Nina Linnet and a fantastic birthday cake made by our very own Pat Hough, yes it was as delicious as it looked yummmmmm!.
Like all fun events, the day had to end, but not before the last go on the bouncy castle…….won't mention who that may have been but they were caught on camera!
