We all have lots of tiny, tiny tubes (called vessels) all over our body, just under the surface of the skin. These vessels take away germs and bacteria that may get under the skin when you scratch or cut yourself. A liquid, called
‘lymph’, carries these away along the vessels.
Where does lymph go?
The vessels take the lymph from your arms and legs back towards the middle of your body. Before it gets there the lymph is cleaned several times by lymph nodes which work a bit like a car wash! Have a look at the video of the lymphatic system to see where your nodes are.
When it’s all clean, it then flows back into your system.
